Most PDF editors can only change text that still has a live text layer, and the new words rarely match. PDFKiller also works on scans. It measures the font, spacing, ink, blur and paper grain from the page and rebuilds just the edited words, keeping the original JPEG compression. Every edit is re-read with OCR and scored, and you check it at 800% before exporting. Try the samples free without an account; your first 5 PDFs are free too.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built PDFKiller because fixing one wrong word in a PDF is still weirdly hard. If the file has a text layer, most editors swap in a font that almost matches. If it's a scan, they can't touch it at all, and you end up pasting a white box or opening Photoshop. PDFKiller treats a correction as a reconstruction problem. On scans it separates ink from paper and removes the old word, filling the gap with grain copied from nearby paper. It picks a font by rendering each candidate against the actual pixels, then matches stroke weight, blur and ink tone. The result goes back into the same image with the original JPEG compression tables, and the hidden OCR layer is updated so search and copy/paste still work. On digital PDFs it removes only the selected glyphs and re-sets the new text at the original baseline, colour and spacing, trying the embedded font first. Then it checks its own work. The new word is re-read with OCR, and you get a score with the checks behind it, plus slider, difference and blink views at up to 800%. When it isn't confident it says "review closely" instead of pretending. Limits, stated up front: Reflow works within a line, not across paragraphs yet. No handwriting. Very short selections, like a few digits, give the font matcher less to go on, so check those closely. Signed PDFs are blocked, and every change is recorded in an audit trail. Pricing: the sample documents are free without an account. Sign up and you can edit and export 5 of your own PDFs for free. After that it's €1.99/month + VAT for unlimited documents, reflow and fine-tuning. I'd love to hear where it falls short. Which fonts, scan qualities or document types should I test next? I'll be here all day answering questions.
