PC Bottleneck Calculator
Check if your CPU is holding back your GPU. Free, no signup
Pick your CPU and GPU, get an honest verdict: which part is the limit, at 1080p / 1440p / 4K, with expected FPS in real games and what to upgrade first. Built on real benchmark data with a published 21.6% mean absolute error — most bottleneck calculators won't tell you their error rate, which tells you something. Free, no signup, and no ads on the calculator itself. There's also an embeddable version for blogs and a data study of all 2,808 CPU+GPU pairings.
Hi PH! I'm Salman, a solo dev from Karachi.
I built this because every bottleneck calculator I found was either a content farm with a fake progress bar, or gave one answer regardless of resolution — which is technically impossible, since the same CPU+GPU pair that bottlenecks at 1080p is usually fine at 4K.
So I built one on actual benchmark data (PassMark, TechPowerUp) and did the thing none of them do: published the error rate. The engine's FPS predictions run 21.6% mean absolute error against measured benchmarks, 72% within ±35%. When it's uncertain, it says so.
A few things I'm proud of:
• Verdicts at all three resolutions, because resolution flips the answer
• A data study across all 2,808 pairings — spoiler: at 4K only 9% of combos are CPU-bound
• The calculator itself will never show ads
• Free embeddable widget if you run a hardware site
Ask me anything about the engine — the normalization, the FPS model, or why "GPU-bound" is what you actually want.
