Patent PreCheck
Patentability scores for AI code — Cursor, CLI, free
You built something clever with Cursor or Claude. Will it survive a patent examiner? Patent PreCheck is a free, keyless patentability read on your code in about 60 seconds: USPTO pillar scores (eligibility, novelty, nonobviousness), prior art matches, and the pillar holding you back. Web app, hosted MCP at patentprecheck.com/mcp, or npx in CI. Triage before counsel. Not legal advice.
Hi Developer friends,
I'm Kevin, the developer of Patent PreCheck.
The spark: I had a conversation with an IP attorney about patenting an idea and some code I created. I learned that any idea simply fed into an AI chat that generates code is not patentable. As I dug deeper into patentability, I realized everyone is a software developer now, and likely wants to find out if what they built is patentable. I also realized that I, like most people who come up with great ideas, need help guiding them to improve their ideas/code, etc., so I built an interactive code tool that helps improve your code along the way, and shows you updated scores. What would take weeks or months now takes less than 60 seconds, and we will help you improve your code so it's in much better shape to give to your attorney or file it yourself. Guided filing is coming soon, but we aren't attorneys, and it is always recommended to engage a good one. We will get you most of the way, saving you time and money.
Patent PreCheck is the check I wished existed at the moment you finish the clever part, and you can even use it inside Cursor, Claude, or your CI pipeline:
• Free, keyless — no account, no USPTO API keys
• Hosted MCP at patentprecheck.com/mcp (just a URL in your config)
• Scores §101/§102/§103 + §112 filing readiness with enforced per-pillar floors
• Surfaces prior art matches so you know what's closest before you talk to counsel
Try the fastest path:
→ https://patentprecheck.com/analyze (web)
→ https://patentprecheck.com/integ... (MCP one-liner)
I'd love feedback on:
1. Does the band/rubric feel honest for software you've built?
2. Is the MCP ergonomics right for how you actually work?
3. What would make you trust this enough to share with a co-founder?
Happy to answer any questions about scoring, AI inventorship, or feedback to make this tool more effective for people like us. Cheers, Kevin
