Hi Product Hunt! I'm Alok, a former freelance video editor from Mumbai, India.
A few month ago, I realized something strange: I could edit complex videos, but I couldn't clearly explain how half of my relatives were related to me.
In Indian families, relationships get complicated fast. Who is your Mama's son to your child? What's the difference between Chacha, Tau, Fufa, and Mama? Most of us know the faces, but not always the exact relationships.
I tried every family tree app I could find and hit the same wall every time. They were all built for Western families.
Apps like Ancestry give you "Uncle" when your family needs Mama, Nana, Chacha, Bua, Tau, Fufa, and dozens of other relationship types. My dadi's side of the family has relationships that Western apps simply don't understand.
I also noticed that many families are losing track of their family history. The person who remembers everyone's names, relationships, and stories is usually a grandparent. When that knowledge disappears, entire branches of the family become disconnected.
So I built Parivaar Pro: a family tree builder designed around how Indian families actually work.
It includes 70+ Hindi relationship labels, separate maternal and paternal branches, Janam Kundali, Panchang, and a Real Tree visualization that makes large families easy to understand.
