PaperFX was inspired by the popularity of torn-paper portraits and animated collages on social media. Although the finished effect looks simple, creating it traditionally requires several tools, texture assets and considerable manual work.
The first version focused on background removal and a basic white paper outline. Testing showed that realistic results also required irregular edges, fibers, notches, texture, shadows and subtle movement. The product gradually evolved into a complete browser-based workspace with 22 materials, custom textures, adjustable paper and motion controls, live previews and 1080p export.
I ultimately chose a free, privacy-first approach: no login, credits, watermark or server upload. Everything happens locally in the user’s browser.
