Hi Product Hunt 👋 What inspired this: I spent years as an IP and commercial lawyer - in-house at Dr. Reddy's on global trademarks, then SaaS contracts at Datum Cybertech - before moving into product and growth at a renewables SaaS company. When I was made redundant from that role, I had two options: look for the next PM job, or find out if I could actually build something myself. I picked the second one, and I built the tool I kept wishing existed when I was the one reading contracts for a living. The problem: Contracts decide pricing, liability, data exposure, IP ownership, and how a deal actually plays out - but most people signing them don't feel confident reading them, and don't have a lawyer on call for every vendor agreement or NDA. The usual options are slow (send it to legal, wait), vague (a general AI tool tells you something "might be risky" with no next step), or expensive. None of them tell you what to actually say back. How the approach changed along the way: The first version of Pactora made people click through five separate section pages before they ever saw a verdict - ten-plus clicks before the thing they actually wanted. I rebuilt it so all the clause agents run in parallel on upload and you land straight on your risk verdict, with the high-risk items already open. The other shift was realising that flagging a risk isn't the useful part - founders don't want a list of problems, they want to know whether to push back, and how. So every flag now comes with a negotiation ladder: your opening ask, a fallback, and a narrowing position, with a script for each. We also ran a head-to-head test recently against ChatGPT and Claude on a real £54k SaaS contract. Pactora caught a cap-indemnity mismatch that left up to £400k unprotected - both general-purpose tools walked past it. That's the gap I'm trying to close: not "AI that reads contracts," but AI that understands how clauses interact, because that's where the real exposure usually hides.
