Own 1 is a fanless personal AI computer that runs two local LLMs and eight agents on your desk, from $3,899 with no subscriptions or per-token costs. What’s different: OwnXOS is AI-native, so every agent gets identity, budgets and an audit receipt, plus a wallet for x402 USDC payments. It bursts to OwnXCloud only when you allow it. Nexy, your private AI co-worker, ships on it and orchestrates hundreds of agents. Your data and memory stay local.
Hi everyone! 👋 We built Own 1 because intelligence went back into someone else’s building. You rent it by the token, and it reads everything you give it. We think of that as time-sharing with a subscription button.
So we started with one question: what would a computer look like if the model and agents were resident from boot, instead of programs you install on top?
That became Own 1, a fanless machine that runs two local LLMs and eight agents, plus OwnXOS, a NixOS-based OS where every agent gets an identity, a budget, permissions and an audit receipt. Nexy, the AI co-worker that ships on it, coordinates those agents. Agents can even pay for approved APIs and compute through a wallet that follows spending rules you write.
We also benchmarked it openly: 1,224 runs across 44 models on one fanless unit with no cloud calls, and we kept the 104 failures in the dataset because they show where a small machine should hand off to OwnXCloud.
To be upfront, specs are still preliminary until launch, and Own 1 isn’t for a single light user. It pays off for households, studios and small teams.
We’d love your feedback: what would you want a personal AI computer to do that cloud assistants can’t?
Interesting direction. I run a small business and build offline tools myself, so the first thing I'd run is private document work: invoices, receipts and client contracts that I simply don't want to upload anywhere. Reading a pile of supplier invoices, pulling out totals and VAT and flagging what's missing would already justify it for a small office. One question: how do backups work? If the box dies, how do I get my data and the agents' memory back without using the cloud?

Who hunted Own 1?
Own 1 was hunted by Ryan Taylor. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
