Owla
Private team chat where AI catches you up every morning
Owla is a privacy-first team chat you can self-host. Built on Matrix with end-to-end encryption, it keeps conversations, decisions and tasks in one place: focused Discussions that end with a clear outcome, tasks assigned right in chat, and an AI assistant that sends a Daily Digest, catches you up on unread rooms and reads your PDFs. Bring your own AI key or use ours. On iOS, Android, macOS and Windows.
I am Product Owner of Owla at Golden Owl Corporation, a software company in Vietnam.
We built Owla because our own team kept hitting the same walls: tasks assigned in chat got lost in the scroll, mornings started with hundreds of unread messages, cross-team decisions dragged on across three group chats, and as a company that builds software for clients, we weren't comfortable keeping internal data on someone else's cloud.
So Owla is:
🔒 Self-hosted and end-to-end encrypted on the open Matrix protocol
💬 Discussions – one topic, only the right people, a clear "Complete" when it's decided
✅ Tasks and notes created right where you talk
🤖 An AI assistant that sends a Daily Digest each morning and catches you up on unread rooms – use ours or bring your own DeepSeek / Claude / OpenAI / Gemini key

Owla was hunted by GO Product. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
