I wear clear aligners. You are supposed to keep them in around 22 hours a day, and every app I tried counts the hours up. That is the wrong number. The one I need at 3pm is the other one: how much of today's out-of-mouth time I have already spent on breakfast, coffee and lunch. So I built the timer backwards. You set a daily out-time budget and OutTime counts it down every time the aligners come out. At a glance: 47 minutes left today, instead of "18 hours 22 minutes worn" and doing the subtraction yourself. The part this crowd may find more interesting is the architecture bet. There is no backend. No analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no accounts, no third-party SDKs of any kind. Notifications are local, payments are StoreKit 2, data is SwiftData on device, and the optional sync goes to the user's own private iCloud database that I cannot read. The App Store privacy label genuinely reads "Data Not Collected". That bet has a cost I underestimated: I am flying blind. My only signal is App Store Connect's anonymised aggregates. I cannot see which screen people drop off on, which features get used, or why someone stopped. I have learned more from a handful of written reviews than from every chart in ASC. Pricing follows the same logic. The timer is free. Pro is one $9.99 purchase, once, for the Apple Watch app, Lock Screen countdown, widgets, smile timelapse and CSV export. No subscription, because a subscription for something you use for eighteen months and then stop is a bad deal for the person paying for it. One deliberate constraint: it is a timer, not a medical device. It never assesses anything, makes no projections, and gives no advice. It shows you your own numbers. Keeping it that way shapes almost every string in the UI.
