I run a cold email agency. Two years ago we launched a client's campaign on a Friday. By Monday the replies had dried up and the client wanted to know what happened.
The infrastructure was the problem. One sending domain had an SPF record with 14 DNS lookups. The limit is 10, so SPF was quietly failing. A tracking domain's SSL had expired the week before. Nobody caught either one, because nothing in our process forced a person to check before we hit send.
