Hey Product Hunt!
I have a 75-minute commute. That’s a lot of time to think “wonder what that person is up to.” College roommate. Old coworker. The friend you keep meaning to call and then don’t, because picking a name turns into a whole thing.
Out of the Blue is the smallest possible fix for that.
In one sitting, you build a list of the people you haven’t spoken to in a while. Then you hit the button. It rings. You don’t know who it’s calling until they answer.
That feeling when you bump into someone on the street you haven’t seen in years? That’s what happens when they pick up and their name and face pop up on the screen.
If they don’t answer, you never find out who it was. They go back in the pile for the next random dial. Anyone who answers is out of rotation for a few weeks, so it doesn’t turn into a stalker app for your closest friends.
No preview. No “who should I call” paralysis. Contacts stay on your iPhone, we don’t upload your address book.
Would love your thoughts, your edge cases, and whether this would actually get you to make the call. Ask me anything.

Out of the Blue was hunted by Chip Hunnicutt. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
