Hey Product Hunt.
I kept doing the same thing in the grocery store: pick up a product, flip it over, read a wall of ingredients I can't pronounce, and put it back without actually knowing if it's fine.
The existing scanners give you a score. Useful, but I always wanted the why. Which ingredient is the problem? Is it a real concern or internet fear-mongering? What should I grab instead?
So Osana does three things:
1. Scan a barcode, a label, or just take a photo. No typing.
2. Get a 0 to 100 score with the full breakdown: each additive, its risk tier, the processing level, and what pulled the score down.
3. See cleaner alternatives for the same product, with the sources behind every call. The methodology is public, because a score you can't verify is just an opinion.
Two things I obsessed over: it has to work while you're standing in the aisle (a few seconds, max), and the additive database updates within 48 hours of new FDA, EFSA, or IARC decisions. No stale data.
I'm a solo founder and this is early. Most useful thing you can do today: scan something in your kitchen and tell me where Osana is wrong or unclear. I'll be in the comments all day.
