Top comment

Hey everyone, I started this the day after WWDC 2025 and Apple have been improving the container runtime since then, so it's finally time to add this here - hope it's useful to some people! I built it as a local drop in for Docker Desktop, which was starting to make my machine go brrrr too much. Turns out, Apple containers are highlight efficient, easy to manage and the feature set is getting better each month. It has an integrated menu bar for quick access to your containers and a split pane log viewer so you can create a window and watch your apps run. If you're running local (o)LMX AI models, you can view them in this app and connect them to sandboxes, which are isolated environments that cannot talk to the internet - Orchard does all the wiring for you. You could sandbox Codex and Claude even if you're not running your own models. Initial Kubernetes support dropped in recently via a container plugin - so it's a one click install for k8s (kind) and another click to add your kubectx.Great if you're running it locally. You also have control of persistent "machines" - linux VM's running on your Mac that don't behave ephemerally like containers. So there's a bit of something in here for everyone, hope it's useful to a few of you!

Who hunted Orchard?

Orchard was hunted by Andrew Waters. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
