So excited for Orca to go live! What you're building resonates with me from when I was traveling around every month, but seems actually even more practical for now since I can really feel like a local in each city I choose to live in.

Hey PH people! Just to echo Devan, thanks for your support, it means the world to us that you’re so excited about what we’re building. I have been living flexibly for a while now. I’ve felt the need for a platform which is more private & higher standard than a hostel, but more social & curated than Airbnb. When I met Devan I couldn’t resist building Orca that solves this problem. For now, I thought I’d hop in with some common q/a: We offer a quarterly or annual membership, or lock in your membership if you’re not ready yet. The Orca Pass quarterly membership is just $99, this lets you dip your toe into the Orca ecosystem without committing much. This might be ideal if you know you’ll only going to be somewhere for less than 3 months If you love the idea but aren’t ready to rent with us yet, you can lock in your early membership rate for a couple bucks. Not only is this the single **best way to support us** (besides renting with us), but I’ll instantly send you Devan’s cell phone number so you can hit him up 24/7 😇 On a scale from 12-mo lease to nightly Airbnb, Orca is somewhere in the middle. Unlike a 12-mo lease: Orca’s listings are furnished, 1-month minimum w/ flexible terms, professionally managed, include wifi/utilities, no deposits, no bad landlords, easy online processing, etc. Unlike the other flexible options: Orca’s listings are only the best neighborhoods, handpicked and prevetted listings, worldwide minimum standards for remote workers, zero reservation fees, no chores, no bad hosts, no scrolling through endless listings, no negotiating, etc. We optimize for remote workers with rigidly high standards. If you have any other questions, leave a comment and we’ll respond promptly. Pumped to welcome you to the Orca community! 👉 Don’t forget to use code PHDAY1 for 40% off 👈 All the best, Aniket

What’s up PH community!! I’m Devan, cofounder of Orca. We’re SO excited to finally launch our baby Orca into the wild. Big thanks @michael_houck1 for encouraging us to be more public and hunting us today. Let’s start here: if our physical location is no longer tied to our income, what should our physical location be tied to? My take: we should follow our happiness around the world (more on following your happiness). To support that shift, we’re building a flexible, affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use housing network. Said simply, Orca is for remote workers who want more flexibility than a 12-month lease. 10 months in SF and 2 months in Italy? Cool. 3 months at a time in unique warm destinations? Awesome. Following the tennis tour to different continents? Perfect. Maybe you’ll just try living in different neighborhoods of your home city? No problem. If it makes you happy, Orca will make it easy. So, how does it work? By purchasing an Orca Pass membership, you unlock access to our network of top-rated monthly rentals at exclusive prices — no fees, deposits, or bad hosts. Once you’re a member, you can reserve, pay rent, and get help through us. We believe your rental experience should be just as simple and reliable as a hotel booking, so picture a similar process. We also add benefits that make it *really* easy to explore new destinations with confidence: - Interactive city guides that thoroughly cover each destination - Local city experts available via text for any questions you have - [soon] A global community of members and local community events I’m so excited to welcome you PHers into the Orca community! 👉 Don’t forget to use code PHDAY1 for 40% off 👈 You can find me @devansood on Twitter (X?) and LinkedIn — feel free to DM me with any questions. Also follow the Orca journey @orcapass on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. Thanks for your support! Devan

Congratulations on the launch @devansood! Really interesting what you're building here. How did you come up with the idea of building Orca?

Now I can pack my bag and go anywhere to enjoy & work. Great Idea. Congratulations on the launch @devansood

@devansood so happy for you man. Congrats on launching on PH. Hearing all your pivots and trials, I can’t tell you how impressed i am. The entire residential market is on the verge of change and you’re definitely pioneering that change with what your doing with your baby Orca. Keep up the amazing work!

Interesting idea. Would have been great if the prices were displayed as I won't become a member unless I know that prices are more competitive than Airbnb.

Impressive concept! Orca Pass makes navigating public transit a breeze. No more fumbling for multiple cards or tickets. Love the convenience it offers.

Congrats! Super excited for the launch. For those with companies and jobs that will continue to be remote even as we shift back to a localized workforce compared to Covid, this will be a great way to live abroad and travel the world flexibly. Excited to see what you guys can offer!

Cool idea - 299 is just access the list? Is there an agency fee when renting thru you?

I am thrilled that Orca is going live! I had a great experience using it in San Francisco, and I am eager to see it expand to other cities and even go international. Keep up the good work

Not a remote worker, but I moved 3 times in the last 5 years. Looking back, I can see how your product could have made my life easier. I faced two big challenges: (1) - I was hesitant to sign a long term lease because i wasn't sure if the new property and location would be good enough. Therefore, every time I moved to a new city, I first stayed in a temporary accommodation for 2-3 months to explore the new city and local market. If I knew I could change my apartment any time if I didn't like something, that would make my life easier. (2) - when I moved from London to New York I didn't have any credit history in the US, so it was hard for me to rent an apartment here without paying a huge amount of money to guarantors, even though I had a good stable job in a reputable big tech company and great credit history in the UK. Sounds like your product has potential to solve both these problems. If you decide to target audience like me at some point, you may try partnering with big tech companies when/if they open scaled hiring in London again. Before covid these companies used to hire lots of people from all over the world in their London office, many of these people were hoping to stay in London for about a year or two and then move to the US after becoming eligible for the L1 visa. If you tell these folks that your product solves the problem (1) immediately and helps avoid the problem (2) in the future when they move to the US, I believe this could be a good value proposition. Good luck, and congrats on the launch!

Excited to explore the possibilities of Orca Pass! Have you considered how this could be used to help digital nomads and remote workers have a better experience?

This is genius! When we decided to live in our RV and do classic "workamping" for ultimate flexibility, we didn't realize how essential it would feel to be actually immersed in the cities that we're in, and that being parked nearby just isn't the same. We wanted to feel at home wherever we go, and to really be in the world and new places! However this feels more like being on our own little island, passing through and living on the margins of where we want to be. Not to mention all the cost, maintenance, and commitment that goes into a mobile set up. We are tempted to AirBnb sometimes, but the cost is so prohibitive for longer term stays. I dislike packing/moving, and before the RV we were moving all the time, so the RV seemed like a great alternative. I do like not having to pack a suitcase now, but the truth is my favorite trip ever was when we stayed in someones apartment in NYC. The packing was worth it haha. This is such a fantastic alternative for nomadic WFH living. So excited for your launch and the future of this project 🎉
