After ~13 years running Magento stores, deploying was still the scariest part of the week. You'd kick off a script, stare at a frozen terminal, and hope setup:upgrade didn't lock the database mid-checkout. Maintenance windows, dropped sessions, the occasional 3am rollback by hand.
Orbit is the tool we built to make Magento deploys boring: • Zero-downtime atomic symlink releases with a traffic-holding cutover — incoming requests are buffered during the swap, not dropped • A DB-migration block-window forecast that predicts how long setup:upgrade will lock the database before you deploy (I've not seen another deployer do this) • Automatic health-checked rollback — if post-deploy checks fail, it reverts the symlink in ~1s, even after the swap • Smart build-skip — CSS-only deploys skip di:compile, PHP-only skip static-content, turning ~3-minute deploys into ~75 seconds • A one-command Rust agent (curl … | sh), a real-time dashboard, deploy --stream in your terminal, and CI/CD triggers via scoped tokens
It runs on your own servers (no vendor lock-in), and it's the alternative to PHP Deployer / Capistrano and to Adobe Commerce Cloud's bundled pipeline — flat monthly, free trial. PHP Deployer users can import an existing deploy.php in one command.
