Hey PH! Arun here, the maker of OpenTeleprompter.
This started with a simple frustration: every teleprompter app I tried was either $30/month, bloated with Electron, or looked terrible on screen share calls.
I wanted something that felt like it belonged on macOS. Not a floating rectangle over my face. Something that actually lives in the notch like it was meant to be there.
So I built it in Tauri + Rust. The whole app is 4.6MB. It uses ~40MB RAM. And it disappears completely during screen share so your audience never knows it's there.
v3 is the biggest update yet. Full React frontend, real Dynamic Island corners with Apple spring physics, a rich text editor with cue markers, and a script library that saves everything locally.
No cloud. No account. No subscription. Just open it and read.
