Hey Product Hunt 👋 I spent the last few months building the database client I actually wanted to use. Every SQL GUI I tried felt like enterprise software from 2009 — heavy, cluttered, twelve panels I never opened. I wanted something closer to a good text editor: fast, quiet, keyboard-first. So OpenTable is that. Connect to PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQLite — locally or through an SSH tunnel — and just write SQL. A few things I'm proud of: The AI reads your schema first. Most tools hallucinate columns that don't exist. This one pulls your real tables and columns before it writes anything, so the query runs. It also explains errors and fixes broken queries. Bring your own Anthropic key — nothing is sent anywhere else. You can cancel a query. Sounds small. Anyone who's ever run an unbounded SELECT on a big table knows it isn't. Inline editing that won't ruin your day. Double-click a cell, edit it. Every change applies in one transaction with bound parameters, and only when the result maps cleanly to one table with a primary key. Schema changes you can read before you run them. Create and alter tables visually — columns, types, primary keys, indexes, foreign keys — with the exact SQL shown first. It's free and MIT licensed. macOS builds are signed and notarised, so no scary warnings. Windows and Linux too. I'd genuinely love feedback — especially on what's missing. What makes you keep your current client open? — Mohammed

Who hunted OpenTable?

OpenTable was hunted by Mohammed Kareem. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
