I'm the maker of OpenFiles — a universal desktop file manager that opens, views, edits and manages 350+ file formats in one app.
Why I built it: I was tired of juggling a dozen single-purpose apps just to open PDFs, Office docs, Markdown, images, videos, audio, archives, PSD/AI design files, CAD/3D, code and data files. OpenFiles brings them all under one clean interface, cross-platform on macOS,and Windows .
What's new in this release:
• A brand-new TipTap-based Markdown WYSIWYG editor — slash menu, GFM tables, task lists, KaTeX math, and live Mermaid/Graphviz previews
• A full-screen Image Lightbox with wheel-zoom and drag-to-pan
• A per-tab AI Chat Drawer — chat with an AI assistant about the file you're currently viewing. Ask questions, summarize PDFs, explain code, translate documents, extract tables from images, or brainstorm edits — all without leaving the file. Each tab keeps its own conversation history, so context stays focused on that file.
• A redesigned feedback system with anonymous submissions and attachments
