Hi, Piotr here 👋 I was collecting nice open-source companies for quite some time now. Mostly to take some inspiration and learn from their code. Last week, I though it would be fun to learn this Astro thing everyone's talking about. So I thought building a directory website out of this collection was pretty good idea. After 2 days of building, OpenAlternative was born. It's a community driven list of open source alternatives to proprietary software and applications. The response so far has been outstanding. We're close to 100 tools in the collection and the site collected 7.5k unique visitors in 3 days. Enjoy and thank you for your support!

Amazing project. We FOSS lovers needed something like this. Congratulations on the launch 🚀

It sounds like you're interested in open-source alternatives to proprietary software or services. Open-source software is developed collaboratively and its source code is freely available for anyone to inspect, modify, and distribute. Here are a few examples of open-source alternatives to popular proprietary software: 1. **LibreOffice**: An open-source office suite that includes programs for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and more. It's a great alternative to Microsoft Office. 2. **GIMP**: A powerful open-source image editing software similar to Adobe Photoshop. It's used for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition, and image authoring. 3. **Mozilla Firefox**: An open-source web browser known for its speed, privacy features, and customization options. It's a good alternative to proprietary browsers like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. 4. **Ubuntu**: An open-source operating system based on Linux. It's user-friendly and comes with a wide range of pre-installed software, making it a viable alternative to proprietary operating systems like Windows or macOS. 5. **Thunderbird**: An open-source email client developed by Mozilla. It's designed for easy email management and includes features like message filtering, search, and customizable views. These are just a few examples, and there are many more open-source alternatives available for various types of software and services. Using open-source software not only promotes transparency and collaboration but also often results in cost savings and increased flexibility.check;https://bammtech.com/en/thrivedx...

This is great, but i would like to know how is this different from other alternatives provider?

Thank you so much for this! This will replace my flowing of Googling and searching Github for "awesome X" when I want to find open source alternatives 😅 Congratulations on the launch!

Wow! I was thinking of something like this for a longer time, basically every time I looked for an alternative on alternativeto.net. Very happy that you had the same idea Piotr and actually made it happen. This is a really good thing! 😍

Very nice idea turning your open-source company collection into a community-driven directory. Congrats!

What a great list you have there. I like that it's all categorized and that it's very easy to find an app
