Open Online
Open almost any file directly in your browser. No installs.
Open Online lets you view and inspect files directly in your browser, from PDFs, Word documents and spreadsheets to images, ZIP archives, eBooks, code and more. Your files never leave your device. No software to install, no account to create, and no tracking.
Hey Product Hunt!
I built Open Online because opening a file shouldn't require downloading another app, creating an account, or uploading your documents to some random server.
We all receive files in unfamiliar formats. Sometimes you just want to see what's inside without installing specialized software.
That's why I created **Open Online**.
Here's how it works:
- Drag and drop a file into your browser.
- Open PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, ZIP archives, images, eBooks, code files and many other formats.
- View the contents, inspect file details, and edit simple text formats.
- Keep everything on your own device.
**The important part: your files never get uploaded.** Processing happens locally in your browser.
No account. No installation. No tracking. Just open your file and get on with your work.
It's free to use, and I'd love your feedback.
Two things I'm particularly interested in:
1. Which file formats would you like to see supported next?
2. What is the most frustrating file-opening experience you've had?
Give it a try: https://open-online.com/
Thanks for checking it out!

Who hunted Open Online?
Open Online was hunted by Andreas Dittes. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
