Beacon started with a result we didn't expect. We ran a popular "AEO score" tool on a leading business news site, and it scored the site poorly. Then we asked ChatGPT and Gemini real questions about business news, and that same site was cited again and again. The score and what the engines actually did had almost nothing to do with each other. Most AEO tools only read your HTML, so they measure whether you could be cited, not whether you are.
So Beacon asks the engines directly. It works in two separate halves:
1. Readability (instant, no sign-up). Can GPTBot, ClaudeBot and the others reach your pages and understand them? This covers robots.txt, schema, llms.txt, headings and sitemaps.
2. Citation. We put buyer questions about your category to ChatGPT and Gemini, and none of those questions mention your brand. You see how often you're named, who's named instead, and which sources the engines lean on. The full audit adds Claude, which is by far the toughest grader.
A result we see often: a site scores 90+ on readability and is still barely named. That tells you the problem isn't on your website.
About the work email: every citation report makes live, search-grounded calls to real AI engines, so each run costs us real money. The report is also about a company's position in its category, so it goes to a company address. The readability check stays free and open to everyone.

The gap between the score and what the engines actually do matches what we saw from the other side: when we checked the server logs of our own WordPress sites, GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot were fetching pages every day, often hitting 404s nobody knew about, and no audit score showed it. Do you plan to let a site connect its own crawler logs, so a missing citation can be traced to a crawl problem or a content problem?
