Off Grid AI runs AI models on the phone and computer you already own. Chat, read documents, ask about photos, talk out loud and make images, with the Wi-Fi off and no account. On your computer it remembers your day: meetings transcribed with no bot in the call, answers that cite their source, and replies it drafts but only sends after your yes. Your phone can use your Mac's bigger models, device to device. Free and open source on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
Every AI app I tried wanted my data on its computer. My notes, my meetings, my inbox. That was the price of an answer.
Phones and laptops are now fast enough that the price is optional.
Off Grid AI runs the models on hardware you already own:
Phone: chat, documents, photos, voice and image generation. Works with the Wi-Fi off. No account.
Computer: all of that, plus a memory of your day. Meetings are transcribed on your machine, with no bot in the call. Ask "what did I promise Sam?" and you get the answer with its source.
Actions: it drafts the email, the ticket, the invite. Nothing goes out until you approve it.
Sync: your phone can use your Mac's bigger models, device to device. No server of ours in between.
Developers: one OpenAI-compatible API on your own machine for every model you download.
The free app is open source: github.com/off-grid-ai/OGAM. 250,000+ downloads and 3,300+ stars so far. The code is the privacy policy.
Pro adds memory, actions you approve, Sync, Vault and Clipboard across 5 devices. For launch day only, Pro lifetime is $79.99 instead of $119.
One ask. Tell me what broke. Which phone, which model, what happened. I'm reading every comment today.
drafting the email and only sending after you approve it is the right call for something living on a phone. does the approval show up as a notification you can answer without opening the app?
The device-to-device Sync detail is the one that stood out to me — the phone using the Mac's bigger models, with no server in between. When the Mac is asleep or off the local network, does the phone fall back to its smaller on-device model, or does it wait? And does the OpenAI-compatible API on the Mac expose the same models the phone can reach through Sync?
congrats 🎉 off grid team.. Curious know how it works without Cloud connectivity. does it work on old smart phones? any basic hardware configuration required? thanks
Is it 5 devices total, phone and Mac counted separately? I'd mostly want the meeting notes on the laptop and the phone just using the Mac's models.
Being able to trace a remembered commitment back to the meeting is a useful detail. I'd want the original line beside the answer before acting on it.
