Most nutrition apps only tell you what's good for you. NutCase tells you where the ceiling is. Log what you eat, see it against your daily values, and browse 13 nuts with sourced nutrition, benefits, risks and real limits — an ounce of Brazil nuts is 988% of your selenium DV, so the app says 1–2 per week, not "eat more nuts." Per-nut allergy severity blocks risky logging. iPhone, iPad, Mac and Watch. Free to track and browse. Educational, not medical advice.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
Every nutrition app I tried had the same blind spot: it only knows how to say more. More protein, more fiber, more superfoods. Nothing tells you where the ceiling is.
Nuts are a good example of why that matters. One ounce of Brazil nuts is 988% of your daily selenium — the sane intake is 1–2 nuts per week, and eating a handful daily is genuinely how people give themselves selenium toxicity. No app I used would tell me that. They'd just log it as a healthy snack.
So NutCase tracks both directions. You log what you actually ate, it shows today's calories, fat, protein and fiber against your daily values, and every nut in the library carries its real limits alongside its benefits:
13 nuts, each with nutrition per ounce, key nutrients as % DV, health benefits with rough timeframes, documented risks, and an explicit recommended intake
Per-nut allergy severity — set a nut to Severe or Anaphylactic and the app interrupts you with a warning instead of quietly logging it
An eating guide that covers the parts people get wrong: 25–30 g total, rotate daily, timing windows, and the blunt rule that nuts replace chips and cookies rather than joining them
Cited sources for the nutrition and health copy — not paraphrased blog posts
Built native across four platforms from one SwiftUI codebase — iPhone, iPad, Mac, and an Apple Watch app for logging from your wrist. iCloud sync is included free, because gating your own data behind a subscription is obnoxious. No account, no analytics SDKs, no tracking.
Free vs. Premium: logging, today's stats, the full nut library, the eating guide, allergy settings, iCloud sync and one reminder are free forever. Premium adds unlimited reminders, CSV export of your log, and the light/dark theme picker — 14-day free trial, then yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase.
To be upfront: this is an educational reference and tracking tool, not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before changing what you eat for a health reason — especially if you have a nut allergy.
I'd love feedback on: whether the "here's the limit" framing is actually useful or just scolding, whether the free/Premium line feels fair, and which nuts you'd want added next. Ask me anything!
