I was a MyFitnessPal power user. Every meal meticulously tagged, every ingredient searched, weighed and entered. It worked, in the sense that the numbers were there. But I could feel my wife's eyes shooting daggers at me across the kitchen while I thumbed through search results, the food going cold, the kids already at the table. We were about to sit down to dinner as a family, and I was wasting the best part of the day on data entry.
I'm a developer, so I did what developers do. I wanted to snap a picture, say the few things the camera couldn't see — the oil, the brand, how much I actually ate — and get a genuinely accurate estimate of the nutrients I care about. Then put the phone down.
Numero is that app. It's the one I still use every day, and dinner is dinner again.
