Nuenki is a browser extension that immerses you in the language you're learning by translating English sentences that are at your specified difficulty into your target language. You can hover to see what the original text was. Procrastinate productively.
I'm new to this - I left school a couple of months ago and started working on Nuenki then. I'm confident in the technical and educational aspects - I'm using it right now - but I'm new to the business side. I'd love to get some feedback on the project, particularly wrt the business/marketing side.
DeepL is very expensive, so I'm providing generous refunds rather than a free trial. I'm interested in what you think of that decision.
Hey, first of all, congrats on getting this off the ground, I like the concept of learning while browsing but I'm worried about how much people will actually use it, have you considered a free trial to bring users in and then converting them, it might help with your pricing concerns too, would love to hear more about your plans for marketing and reaching out to potential users
Saw this extension pop up randomly while browsing, cool idea but I can't see myself paying without trying it first, generous refunds are nice but they feel like a band-aid solution maybe offer a short trial instead 🙄
I stumbled on this through an ad while browsing LinkedIn, the idea of learning a language while surfing the web is cool but I found it kinda distracting and the translations were sometimes off Maybe consider adding a way to adjust how often translations pop up or a feature that allows users to pick specific websites where the extension works Also refunds instead of a free trial sounds risky, wouldn't a short free trial encourage more users to try it out and maybe stick around if they like it
I found this thing randomly while browsing and decided to give it a shot but it seems a bit clunky, and sometimes the translations are way off, have you thought about integrating other translation services maybe, also refunds sound good but why not offering a short trial period, might be better for business growth, any plans for new languages or ways to customize difficulty settings in future updates
Saw your browser extension pop up on a random site thought I'd give it a whirl, works ok and the idea of learning a language while browsing is smart but I feel a free trial could really help people decide if it's useful rather than the refund option, how do you plan to handle languages with non-Latin scripts, any updates in the pipeline?
cool concept man! I have been learning spanish lately and this could definitely help. I understand you are using deep learning orr maybe some machine learning models but why did you opted out of the simple translators like the google translate or something, just curious and wanted to know what could be the reason for using dl instead of the other options
Congrats on the launch!
Love the concept. Do you have a monetization plan in place?
Hi Alex, congrats on launching Nuenki! The concept of learning while browsing is fantastic. Your refund approach sounds fair given the costs. Have you considered partnering with language learning communities for marketing?
Wow, Nuenki looks like a game-changer for language learners! Learning while browsing is such a smart idea. I'm curious - how many languages does it support right now? And do you have plans to add more in the future? As a casual language learner myself, I'm excited to give this a try. Keep up the innovative work!
Congratulations for such an awesome idea. As a passionate lifelong learner, I love to incorporate learning into normal daily tasks.
As far as I understood, it is only available for English speakers trying to learn other languages right?
It would be cool if the tool could translate from different source languages into the learners target language as well
This is a very neat idea, never thought of immersive learning on the web this way! As someone who has many languages under my belt, I can definitely get behind Nuenki being a powerful supplement to someones language education! Love the fact that difficulty can be adjusted! Very good job @alex424242 and congratulations! I will be watching this with great interest! :D
Great work on Nuenki! Using web content to aid language learning is innovative. How do you balance between providing useful translations and keeping the learning experience smooth?
I came across this through an ad, not too sure if it's the best learning tool seems like it could make browsing annoying, having sentences pop up and change while you scroll might just frustrate users in the long run, mixing learning and leisure might not suit everybody, they should think about making it less intrusive
Honestly, the idea of learning a language while browsing is kinda neat but the refund instead of a trial sounds risky and off-putting, like people might not want to commit without testing, also, I’m a bit skeptical about the real effectiveness of this approach, different strokes for different folks I guess 🤷♂️
This looks interesting! Haven't tried it yet, but I like the refund idea instead of a free trial. Kinda bold! Would love to see how it grows.
Hey Alex,
I'm curious how you determine the difficulty level of sentences. Is it based solely on vocabulary or does it take into account grammatical complexity as well?
Have you considered partnering with existing language learning apps to integrate this technology?
Congrats on the launch!
