NotebookLM to PDF, Word, Markdown export
Big update that allows to export Everything from NotebookLM
Honestly, it wasn't some big flash of insight. It was just pure, grinding frustration that finally hit a breaking point.
I remember the exact day. I had a tight deadline and needed to pull all my research out of NotebookLM for a final report. I'd spent weeks feeding it articles, PDFs, and YouTube videos. The AI had done its job. It synthesized everything, gave me great notes, study guides, even some mind maps. It was all perfect inside the app.
But then came the hard part. Getting it out.
I started copy-pasting. I'd open a chat log, select everything, and paste it into a doc. Every single time, the formatting would break. Bullets turned into asterisks, headings lost their structure, and that clean layout I loved just turned into a messy wall of text. It was slow, error-prone, and honestly, it just drained me.
Then I wanted to back everything up. I had multiple notebooks for different clients. But there's no "Export All" button. You can't select multiple notebooks and just hit download. I thought about exporting every single source manually from each notebook, but I gave up on that idea before I even started typing.
I tried a few other Chrome extensions. Some worked okay for exporting a single chat or a source as a PDF. Better than nothing, sure. But they were always piecemeal. One did chats, another did sources, but none did everything. And the batch exports were sketchy. Half the time they'd fail or miss files when I picked more than a couple items. It felt like having a toolbox where every tool was broken.
The moment that really broke me was a group project. My coworker needed full access to everything I had. The sources, the full chat history, the notes. I couldn't just share the notebook. They weren't on my Google Workspace. I spent the whole afternoon manually exporting and reformatting. I had to save each source one by one, stitch the chat logs back together, and piece the notes into a readable format.
By the end of the day, I was just sitting there, staring at my screen. I was so done. I realized what I actually needed was a single button. One click that just grabs it all. All my sources. All my chats. All my notes. From any notebook. Or better yet, from multiple notebooks at the same time. Give me a clean, organized folder or a ZIP file and let me move on with my life.
I didn't want to be a data-entry clerk. I wanted to do the thinking. The AI was supposed to save me time, not trap me in a walled garden.
So I built it. It wasn't because I'm some genius coder. It was just because I was a user who got sick of the hassle. I figured if I was this annoyed, other people probably were too. I just wanted to give folks the freedom to actually use their work wherever they needed to, without the copy-paste nightmare.
Finally a way to get my research notes out of NotebookLM without copying and pasting for an hour. The batch export handled all five of my notebooks in one go, which saved me a ton of time before a deadline.
