Doodle a fighter (stick man, dog, car, anything) and it steps off the page to fight. Scrub a part darker to hit harder; draw a flame for a fireball. Battle 10 hand-drawn rivals, a friend on one device, or play nearby with no internet. Free and open source.
Remember drawing stick-figure fights in the back of your notebook? I wanted those drawings to actually fight, so I built Notebook Fighters.
✏️ Draw anything. A stick man, a dog, a car, a blob. The game finds the head, body, arms and legs in your strokes, rigs them, and animates your own ink.
🤖 Fight the computer. Pick one of 10 hand-drawn rivals (skinny kid, dog, boxer, karate guy, ninja, swordsman, a pumpkin-throwing Halloween guy, a bone-scattering Skeleton, a ground-shaking pehelwan, and a cross-hatched pencil Hulk who mega-leaps) on Easy, Normal or Hard.
👥 Play a friend on one keyboard. Two players, two drawings, WASD vs arrows (or a touch pad each on a tablet). Best of 3, instant rematch.
🌑 Scrub it darker = stronger. Go over an arm a few more times and it punches harder, within a budget, so nothing is best at everything. The Fighter Card shows every number.
🔥 Draw a power. A red zigzag is a fireball, blue waves are a water wave, a gold Z is a lightning dash, loops on the back are wings.
💥 Knockouts turn into ragdolls with a slow-mo replay you can save as a clip.
📶 Play nearby with no internet: one phone turns on its hotspot, the other scans a QR code, and you fight.
🌐 Or create a room and share the code to fight a friend online.
It runs in the browser on laptop, phone, tablet or gamepad, installs as an offline app, and has a built-in How to play guide. No signup, free, and open source (MIT): github.com/Happyesss/notebook-fighters
What I'd love feedback on:
1. Did it read your drawing the way you meant it? Post your weirdest fighter!
2. Does fighting the computer feel fair on Normal?
3. How do the touch controls feel on your phone?
Thanks to Kenney for the CC0 sound effects. I'm here all day. Draw something ridiculous and tell me what happened 😄

Notebook Fighters was hunted by Shashank Rathour.
