Hi Product Hunt, I'm Oncel, the developer of NotchLive.
I have ADHD, and I built NotchLive mainly for myself. It started with live captions at the top of my Mac screen. Since the first launch, it has grown into an app for following speech, revisiting recordings, transcribing files, and dictating into Mac apps. It works on Macs without a notch too.
Here's a workflow you can use today: follow a call with live captions, choose to save the session with audio, then replay a passage beside its transcript when you want to check what was said. Already have an interview or lecture recording? Import the audio or video and transcribe it locally.
The principle behind it is simple: AI should help me use my information while I stay in control of the record. Automatic speaker labels can be wrong. On supported Macs, you can review and correct them, and those corrections carry through to analytics, exports, and AI access.
The video shows Codex following NotchLive's Live Timeline through MCP and translating captions into multiple languages. AI access is optional and read-only, with separate switches for saved content and live captions. It cannot start recording or change your NotchLive records. The connected AI app controls how it handles shared text, so this external workflow is not necessarily entirely local.
NotchLive doesn't upload your audio to a cloud transcription service or join your calls as a meeting bot.
Live captions are free. Pro is $24.99 once, including recording, file import, dictation, export, supported translation, and MCP access. macOS 14+ is required; Apple translation needs macOS 15+ and a supported language pair.
