Nightjar runs scheduled scripts on your Mac, records every run, and alerts you when one fails, times out, or never starts. Commands and logs stay local. No account. 14-day trial, then $19 once.
Hey Product Hunt — I’m Piyush, the maker of Nightjar.
I built it after discovering that a scheduled backup on my Mac had been failing quietly for long enough to make the backup useless. The cron expression was fine; what I lacked was a reliable answer to “did it actually run?”
Nightjar runs recurring commands locally, keeps the output, exit code, duration, and status of every run, and alerts you when one fails, times out, or never starts. Commands, paths, environment variables, and run history stay on the Mac. Optional email monitoring sends only the operational metadata needed to detect missed runs — never commands, output, paths, or environment variables.
It has a 14-day full trial and costs $19 once — no account and no subscription.
I’ll be here throughout the launch. If you run scripts on a Mac, what is the one recurring job you trust the least today?
Love that the logs and commands stay local instead of getting piped through some cloud service. The run history with timeout alerts is exactly what I've been cobbling together with launchd and hope for the best.

Who hunted Nightjar?
Nightjar was hunted by Piyush Pradhan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post.
