Hey Product Hunt, Kyle here, maker of the NI Quote Checker.
I built this after watching people at home in Northern Ireland get quoted wildly different prices for the same job, and having no way to know what was fair. National price guides don't help here: NI trade prices run 10 to 20 per cent below the GB average, so every "UK cost guide" is wrong for us by default.
The Quote Checker fixes that for one small corner of the world. Pick the job (kitchen, bathroom, extension, rewire, boiler, roof, windows), enter the quote you were given, and in about 30 seconds you'll see whether it sits in the researched 2026 Northern Ireland price range, plus the questions worth asking before you accept. It flags quotes that are suspiciously high AND suspiciously cheap, because the lowball that balloons mid-job is how most rogue trader stories start.
It's completely free, no signup, no catch. Every anonymised check also sharpens the underlying dataset, which we publish openly (CC BY 4.0) for anyone to use.
Honest limits: it's Northern Ireland only, ranges not valuations, and it tells you what to ask, not who to hire.
