Explore maps, manage inventory, and battle zombies in a classic HTML5 RPG. Your dialogue choices with a locally run Gemma 3 model determine your turn economy in this unique narrative experience.
Hi Product Hunt community! 👋
I’m the creator of Nexus, a post-apocalyptic visual novel RPG with a unique twist: it’s fully driven by a locally run AI model. 🧟♂️✨As a classic RPG fan, I wanted to build an HTML5 game featuring traditional map exploration, quest lines, turn-based combat, and inventory management. However, I wanted to innovate with the dialogue and pacing. In Nexus, the conversation isn’t pre-scripted. Instead, the turn economy revolves around your interaction with the characters, who are powered by a custom-trained Gemma 3 model running completely locally via Ollama. Every hand-drawn asset, line of code, and mechanic was built to merge the depth of classic RPGs with the unpredictability of live generative text. Why I built this:I wanted to experiment with how local LLMs could be gamified and integrated seamlessly into web development without depending on expensive, third-party APIs.I’d love to hear your feedback:How do you feel about the balance between the classic turn-based mechanics and the AI conversation?Did you manage to survive the zombie apocalypse?Do you have any suggestions for the inventory or quest systems?Thank you so much for checking it out! I’ll be here all day answering any technical or gameplay questions you might have. 🚀

Who hunted Nexus?
Nexus was hunted by Miguel Maves. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
