I'm Howard, raising five children solo, and the pile on my kitchen table is not a metaphor. School forms, the thing I was supposed to call about, the appointment that never got booked. I tried many task apps. Each one handed the pile straight back and made me its administrator: projects to set up, labels to invent, priorities to keep tidy. Then it counted my failures in red. Admin is exactly what a full head has no fuel left for. What finally clicked was smaller than I expected. Every task app assumes you can look at everything on your plate and calmly pick the right next move. For ADHD brains, and for anyone carrying a whole household in their head, that is the exact step that breaks. Ten things all feel equally urgent, so you freeze, or you do the easy one, and the important one waits another day. The apps call that procrastination. The research calls it executive function. So Nelawa skips the list. You empty your head into it, it does the sorting, and it hands you one next thing. Two things changed while I was building it. I started by letting people mark what mattered. That was wrong. An overwhelmed brain under-tags the very thing it is avoiding, so the app reads the signals itself now: dates, money, a child's name, words like school or bill. Fierceness is inferred, never declared. Then I took out every mechanic that punishes you. Nothing turns red, there are no streaks and no overdue counts. It cost me the easy engagement tricks and it is the decision I am most sure about. It is early and it is small, and I am letting people in in batches so everyone gets looked after properly. If you try it, I would genuinely like to know where it falls over.
