NearPair detects compatible Fast Pair earbuds nearby and shows a calm, native setup card on macOS.

Hey there lovely people! 👋 I built NearPair after noticing how awkward it still feels to connect many non-Apple Bluetooth devices to a Mac. You open Bluetooth settings, wait for the device to appear, find it in the list, and manually connect. NearPair turns that process into a simple nearby-device experience. Put a compatible Fast Pair accessory in pairing mode, and a native setup card appears on your Mac with the option to connect. It works with more than earbuds and headphones. NearPair can detect compatible speakers, watches, controllers, car systems, and other accessories that advertise Fast Pair support. Building it involved working around the boundaries of macOS Bluetooth APIs while keeping the experience honest. NearPair detects nearby compatible accessories, reconnects known devices, and attempts first-time pairing when possible. It runs quietly in the menu bar, keeps nearby-device information on your Mac, and is designed to feel like a natural part of macOS. This is still an early release, so compatibility can vary between device models. I’d love to know what Fast Pair device you use and what I should test next?
