I built Nautilus because I read Hacker News every day, but scrolling through a 400-comment thread to find the two or three arguments that actually matter always felt like the wrong way to spend that time.
The core idea: keep everything a great HN client should have — full account support, offline reading, a fast native feel — but add a private research layer on top. Opinion Map clusters a thread into agreeing/disagreeing camps and surfaces the crux of the debate. Private Briefing builds a 5/15/30-minute reading queue from what you actually read and follow. Story Rules and Radar let you shape your feed and track topics with full transparency into why something matched.
The AI runs entirely on-device with Apple's Foundation Models — nothing you read is ever uploaded anywhere. That constraint shaped a lot of the design: no server-side ranking, no accounts required, no telemetry.
It's a native Swift/UIKit app with a shared Rust core underneath. Free, with one optional one-time purchase to unlock extra visual Editions.
