NameShot writes the names of the people in your group photo onto the picture itself — so later you can search a name and see every photo that person appears in. You can add the place and a short note too, and find photos by name, place or note. Everything stays on your phone: no account, no sign-up, no server upload. Free, with an optional Pro plan for more names per photo, more name bar styles and Excel export.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I made NameShot. A group photo tells you who was there, but not their names. A month later the faces are still there and the names are gone. NameShot writes the names onto the photo itself — type or speak them in order from the left, save, and the names live in the photo file, not in a note somewhere that gets lost. Later you can search a name and see every photo that person appears in. You can add the place and a short note too, and search by those as well. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no sign-up, nothing uploaded to a server. Free, with an optional Pro plan (up to 30 names per photo instead of 5, 9 name bar styles, and Excel export of the photo log). It's on Android today. The cases I built it for were class reunions, client and site visits, and teachers learning a new class at the start of term — I'd love to hear where you'd use it. Thanks for taking a look!

Who hunted NameShot?

NameShot was hunted by Seoul Yu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
