Nailterest was inspired by a simple observation: while there are many virtual nail try-on apps on the market, they all solve only one part of the problem. Most rely on large cloud-based AI models that require expensive GPU infrastructure to process every try-on. I wanted to build something fundamentally different—an edge AI solution that runs directly on the user's device, making the experience faster, more scalable, and significantly more cost-efficient. But as I explored the market, I realized the bigger gap wasn't just the technology. Existing apps focused almost entirely on virtual try-on, while the nail community itself was fragmented. Inspiration lived on Pinterest and Instagram, salon discovery happened on Google Maps, bookings were handled elsewhere, and there was no single place connecting it all. That realization shaped the evolution of Nailterest. What started as a lightweight, privacy-friendly virtual try-on became a complete platform for everything related to nails. Whether someone is looking for inspiration, trying on a new design, discovering talented salons, or booking their next appointment, I wanted Nailterest to be the first place they open. My goal wasn't simply to build another try-on app—it was to create the platform the nail industry has been missing.
