Naija Accountability was inspired by a simple but urgent problem: many Nigerians care deeply about governance, public spending, and community development, but it is often difficult to access clear, trustworthy, and organized information about what leaders promise, what funds are allocated, and what outcomes are actually delivered. The problem I wanted to solve was the gap between citizens and accountability. Too often, information about public projects, budgets, policies, or elected officials is scattered, technical, or inaccessible. This makes it harder for citizens to ask informed questions, track progress, and participate meaningfully in governance. Naija Accountability was built to make civic information easier to understand, easier to verify, and easier to act on. The approach evolved as I worked on the launch. At first, the focus was mainly on presenting information, but the process gradually became more strategic: how can the platform not only inform people, but also encourage engagement, transparency, and responsible leadership? That shift shaped the design, messaging, and user experience. The goal became creating something clear, credible, and practical an accountability tool that feels accessible to everyday Nigerians while still being useful for advocates, journalists, researchers, and civic organizations. This also to make Nigerian citizens know those representing them.
