I listen to a lot of long-form talks — conference sessions, interviews, three-hour live sets. Almost none of it needs to be video, and almost all of it is published as video anyway. So listening on a phone means keeping a video window lit, watching the battery go, and getting pulled sideways into things I never asked for.
I tried the obvious workarounds first. Podcast apps won't take a video link. Video apps put a whole feed in front of me before I reach play. And half of them stop the moment the screen locks.
So I built MusicPal. You paste a link, it hands back the audio, and the screen holds a title, an author and a running clock. That is the entire interface.

The design rule I kept coming back to: nothing on screen may suggest a next thing to watch. No recommendations, no up-next, no thumbnail wall. Change the player face if you want a different mood, the quiet stays the same.
One thing I would rather tell you than have you find out: a linked track plays through the source site's own web player, and iOS will not let a web page begin playing once the app has left the screen. The track you are on finishes, and the queue waits until you open the app again. Imported files have no such limit. It is written in the app's own settings screen too. I would rather say it here than earn a one-star review for it.
There is no account and no server. Your listening history never leaves the device because there is nowhere for it to go. Free gives you 3 tracks and 1 playlist with the whole player unlocked. Premium is 12.99 a year, or 29.99 once and it is yours for good. I would rather sell this to you than rent it to you.
I would really like to know what you would want next. Playback speed and chapter marks are the two I keep hearing. What is missing for you?
