Hi Product Hunt, I'm Mia from Coolplay. Today we're launching Music MCP.
We're on Apple Music, and Claude has a Spotify connector and no official Apple Music one. The Apple Music MCP servers we found needed Python or Node plus an Apple developer key, or they script the Music app. We wanted something you just install, so we built this.
It's a menu bar app for the Mac that runs a local MCP server and is its own player. Your AI agent gets 23 tools: search, play, queue, playlists, and your listening history if you switch that on. No keys, no account, and it's free.
What we use it for:
- Play something that fits our taste but that we've never heard.
- Make a playlist from what's coming up at a venue nearby.
- A playlist for focus work.
- Save any of it as a playlist.
A favourite from the team: a playlist of every act a small festival in our maker's neighborhood ever booked. They used to go there when they were young. Claude read the old flyers and played it.
It works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and any other MCP client on the same Mac. Playback needs an Apple Music subscription.
