One thumb is all it takes to save Earth. Inspired by Tiny Wings, MoonMan is a minimalist gravity escape game originally storyboarded in 2013. Launch off the rock to escape a massive moon mine collapse and maneuver to the surface using oxygen as your only resource. Your jumps and movements are deeply musical, dynamically building the soundtrack as you play. Can you make it out alive? If you fail, the Moon loses its orbit and plummets toward Earth. Hey Product Hunt! It's been several years since my last feature here. π
I originally designed this game as "SpaceMan" back in 2013 while working at BNOTIONS, a Toronto-based product design studio. At the time, we were working on projects that demanded extreme simplicity while reinventing classic interactions. One night after work the core mechanic hit me and I storyboarded the entire game on an iPhone 4. And that's as far as I took it... Until now! π
What is MoonMan? π§βπ It is a minimalist, physics-based gravity escape game where you must navigate a collapsing moon mine by jumping and flying, collecting pickups and avoiding debris and other obstacles along the way. Oxygen is your only lifeline and resource, so you have to use it wisely to maneuver. Miss a landing and you'll rip your suit.
Where we are today: The beta web app (v0.0.3.0) is officially live! We are actively tuning the experience, and both App Store and Play Store versions will be dropping right after this initial round of testing.
