Her birthday is on the Chinese lunar calendar (农历) — and a lunar date lands on a different Gregorian day every single year. So the "yearly repeat" I'd set in my calendar quietly drifted onto the wrong day, and leap months made it even messier. Re-entering the date by hand every year is exactly the kind of small, important thing we all forget.
