Monovinyl is a vinyl collection app built around visual recognition. Point your camera at a record cover and Monovinyl identifies it — no barcode scanning or text recognition required. From there, add records to your collection, explore stats about what you own, and follow friends to discover what they're collecting.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
Monovinyl started as a small side project around one question:
Could I build a real “Shazam for vinyl records”?
Not by scanning a barcode or reading the text on the cover, but simply by pointing a phone at the artwork and recognizing the record from the image itself.
Eventually, I got the recognition working.
Then came the slightly harder question: what do I do with it?
So I started building a product around it.
Today, Monovinyl lets you:
- Recognize a record from its cover
- Add it to your collection
- Explore stats about your collection
- Follow friends and see what they're collecting
It's still very much a project in progress, and that's actually why I'm launching it here.
I'd love feedback from vinyl collectors — especially on the recognition experience and what would make Monovinyl genuinely useful when browsing records or managing a collection.
Thanks for checking it out!
