MonoPhone is an open-source minimalist Android interface built to break dopamine-driven scroll loops. Featuring a visual Day Planner synced with a deep Pomodoro timer, a left-swipe customizable widget panel, system-wide app/Shorts blockers, and "Lego Task Uncle"—your reactive desktop companion who gets visibly angry if you miss focus targets. Cut screen appeal with Monochrome mode, pass through Friction Gates, and reclaim your digital autonomy with zero tracking.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m the maker behind MonoPhone. Modern smartphone UIs are intentionally engineered to hijack our attention spans. After catching myself wasting hours on colorful notification badges and mindless micro-scrolling loops, I decided to build a phone environment centered entirely around absolute intentionality.
Because privacy is non-negotiable when optimizing your life, MonoPhone is completely open-source, runs an Express.js backend, and uses a sleek Flutter mobile client with zero data tracking.
We just overhauled our architecture to bring you a deeply synchronized, distraction-free productivity ecosystem. Here is what's under the hood:
⏱️ Unified Day Planner & Pomodoro Sync
Tasks are shared globally across views. Estimate your necessary Pomodoro counts, and the timeline automatically blocks out your day. Control sessions directly from your task cards, and use our precise, real-time audio alarms to keep transitions seamless.
🔒 Deep-Focus Blocker Engine
A complete lockdown suite. Block disruptive apps, initiate one-tap blocks for Reels/Shorts (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok), enforce maximum daily time quotas, or toggle Strict Mode for zero-bypass discipline. To strip away visual temptation, you can activate system-level Monochrome grayscale routing or slow down your impulses with our custom Friction Gates.
🧩 Swipe-Left Widget Dashboard
Keep your workspace clean but accessible. Swipe left on your home screen to reveal an arrangement of minimalist clocks, rapid scratchpads, focus analytics, or embed your native Android OS system widgets (weather, music, etc.). Your layout is fully persistent across app restarts.
🧱 Meet "Lego Task Uncle"
To make discipline a bit more human, we added a minimal, interactive Lego-style block avatar directly on your home screen clock. He monitors your hourly performance in real-time. Hit your Pomodoro targets, and he adopts a peaceful, blessing posture. Fall behind, and he gets visibly angry and throws witty, sarcastic text taunts inside your display feed!
🚀 Open Source & Production Ready
We just pushed our backend to production (hosted on Render API) and optimized our release into lightweight, architecture-specific split APKs to keep the footprint incredibly lean.
Since we are currently bypassing the Google Play Store to harvest direct user feedback, our APKs are hosted entirely on GitHub. I would love for you to download it, break it, look through the source code, and tell me what features we should build or fix next!
Check out our repository, report bugs, or request features directly on our GitHub Issues & Discussions tab. Thank you for checking MonoPhone out! 🌿

Who hunted MonoPhone?
MonoPhone was hunted by Harsh Dixit. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
