MonkeyLock blocks the apps you choose using Apple's Screen Time. When your minutes run out they lock, and you get them back by doing push-ups — the front camera counts the reps on device. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. The part I think is actually new: adding an app to the wall is instant, but taking one off waits until the next morning. I built this because I was the problem. Screen Time reports every Sunday,
promises every Monday, four hours a day regardless.
Every mechanic in the app came from something that failed on me first. The
removal delay exists because I caught myself unchecking Instagram from my own
block list the moment the block started working — so now taking an app off
the wall waits until morning, while adding one is instant.
Break Glass exists because a blocker that only ever says no is a blocker
people delete. Five minutes, ten-second press, three a day, nothing owed
tomorrow.
It is free with no purchases. I am not sure what the business model is yet
and I would rather find that out later than put a paywall in front of
something I built to fix my own head.
Happy to answer anything — especially if you have tried the other blockers
and know exactly how they fail.
