Modexe is a local, Apple-native notes app with a real relational database built into it. Write or handwrite on one side, build tables on the other, and drop a chip in your text that points at a specific record. The record then shows every document that mentions it, so you get backlinks without filing anything.
I am excited to share Modexe with you all, which is an offline/local, Apple-native note-taking application with a real relational database underneath. I originally created it as a project for myself while finishing my graduate degree, concentrating in data analytics, but I thought you all might be interested in it as well!
It is free on the App Store for Apple devices running iOS 26 / macOS 26 or later, and can be synced across devices via iCloud. No sign-in or account creation is needed whatsoever. It is currently available for Mac, and iPhone and iPad are awaiting distribution.
