Know how defensible your product is before a clone, an AI agent or a platform feature tests it. Moatly reads public evidence (GitHub, AI agent registries, filings, platform release notes) and shows your moat strength, threat pressure and next moves. Free.
For years, competitor analysis meant watching the rivals you already know. But software is now cheap to build, so the threats that matter arrive from places nobody's watching: a weekend clone on GitHub, an MCP server or Claude skill doing your job inside an AI assistant, or a platform your customers already pay for shipping your core feature.
Moatly measures both sides, from public evidence:
• Moat strength: what keeps customers from switching, across eight factors from switching cost to distribution
• Threat pressure: what's testing it right now, across five threat types, with every signal linked to its source
The check is free for any product. Weekly monitoring (Slack, email or API) is £29/month for the first 100 founding members, and that price is held for as long as you stay.
I'd love honest feedback, especially if your reading feels wrong. Drop your URL below and I'll reply with what Moatly found 🙏
Thank you to everyone who ran a report. Your feedback showed some early readings were too thin, so here's what's changed:
• Every report is now a full, deep check. Some early ones ran a lighter version by mistake, and could miss real threats.
• We now read the AI labs' own release notes (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more), plus the Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and GitHub roadmaps. If a platform is building your product into theirs, it shows up.
• New sources: the App Store, Docker, WordPress plugins and editor extensions, so apps and self-hosted rivals count too.
• Every source now gets reviewed, not just the first few to answer. Busy categories like AI agents now read properly: Manus went from "little testing it" to 55 threats.
• Agencies and shops get told up front that Moatly reads software products, instead of getting a misleading score.
If you ran a report before today, it's worth checking again. If anything still looks off, reply here and I'll look at it personally.

Who hunted Moatly?
Moatly was hunted by Max Jeffery. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
