I built MirrorNotes because I wanted to journal with AI without handing my private thoughts to a server.
The core idea: Gemma 3 (a small but capable LLM) runs entirely on your iPhone. Daily Nudges, Ask, Mood Timeline, Weekly Digest — all local inference, zero network calls.
Privacy guarantee: your journal text is never transmitted. No API key, no logging, no cloud AI backend. The model runs on your chip, reads your entry, and forgets it.
A few things I'm especially proud of:
→ "Ask your journal" — e.g. "what stresses me out?" answers from months of entries, all on-device
→ Mood Alerts — notifies you if 3 consecutive entries register negative emotion (Deep tier)
→ Fair pricing: write unlimited forever free; pay only for AI features
→ Staged onboarding: AI waits until you have 4+ entries so the first insight actually means something
Key differentiator vs Dottie, Rosebud, Reflection: those apps offer cloud AI as an option or default. MirrorNotes has NO cloud AI — ever. The privacy guarantee is architectural, not a setting.
