Hi Product Hunt!
I’m Victorine, a psychologist and psychotherapist with over 10 years of clinical experience, and I built MindAct: Emotional Regulation around a question I’ve encountered countless times in my work: what do you do when you understand what you’re feeling, but you need something that actually helps right now?
I first launched MindAct in May, and this update brings it much closer to what I originally wanted it to be.
Over the years, I’ve seen that understanding why you feel anxious, overwhelmed, angry or emotionally stuck doesn’t necessarily mean knowing what to do when that feeling actually hits.
And when people need support, they usually need it then, in that moment, not hours later.
That’s the gap I wanted MindAct to address.
MindAct is designed as a practical tool people can reach for when they need it. Its exercises are grounded in clinical psychology and evidence-based psychological techniques, translated into guided tools that can be used in everyday situations.
Instead of simply offering a large library of content and leaving users to figure out what might help, MindAct starts with how they feel. Users check in with their current emotional state, access exercises suited to what they’re experiencing, then check in again afterwards to see what changed.
With this update, MindAct also goes beyond the individual moment. Users can follow their progress, recognize patterns over time and gain insights into their emotional regulation.
One of the biggest challenges for me was deciding what not to put into the app. After more than a decade of clinical work, there are countless psychological concepts and techniques I could include. But I didn’t want MindAct to become another library of content that people browse once and never actually use.
I wanted to build something people would reach for when they need it.
Throughout the process, I’ve kept coming back to the same question: if someone opens MindAct while they’re actually struggling, is it useful?
Now I’d really like to put that question to you.
If you try MindAct, tell me what worked, what didn’t, what feels missing and what you would change. I’m especially interested in one thing: would you actually reach for MindAct when you need it?
