Mind Journal
A private emotion journal with on-device AI reflection
Mind Journal is a local-first emotion diary for turning a difficult moment into a clearer reflection. Write what happened, name the feeling, and review patterns across entries and insight views. On supported devices, bundled Gemma or Gemini Nano can generate reflections on-device; journal content stays in an encrypted local database. Rewarded access covers AI coaching, emotion graphs, and PDF exports, with reminder and app-lock options.
I built Mind Journal for moments when writing “what happened” is easier than knowing what to do with the feeling. The app keeps the journal local, then uses on-device AI or a local fallback to shape a calm reflection without sending entries to a developer server. I would value feedback on whether the prompts help users move from emotion to one useful next thought.
Naming the feeling before writing what happened was a small touch that genuinely shifted how I processed a rough day. The on-device AI reflection felt surprisingly personal for something running locally.
The on-device AI reflections are surprisingly thoughtful for a local-first setup, and having everything stay in an encrypted database actually makes me want to write more honestly in it.
The on-device AI angle is genuinely cool, especially for something as personal as a journal. One thing I'd love to see is a "memory thread" view that surfaces past entries with similar emotional tags side by side, so you can actually trace how a recurring feeling plays out over weeks or months instead of just seeing a graph of it. That would make the patterns view feel way more actionable.
Congratulations on the launch! On-device is the part I'd have expected to be hardest here. Does the reflection work on one entry at a time, or does it look across entries to find a pattern? Those ask quite different things of a small local model.
