If I could suggest to visualize 3D regions / map plot on the globe to show ships in different regions. It could have many use-cases: Indie devs can connect with local peers, communities can also use it to host their meetup and so on.

One question: If thousands of ships are placed on the globe, it could be very messy. Then some projects will go under because they are barely visible in the crowd. Are there several globes, and depending on the session, a different globe with different products is displayed or is it just a single globe?

It's an interesting concept ...similar to what i had seen few years back from a student who sold space on a web page for advertisements. Good to add some fun !
